NOTICE

It is with much regret that The Northeast Texas Horseman’s Association will no longer be having AQHA and/or Introductory horse shows.  On Tuesday, January 10, 2012, after holding prior meetings with much discussion and researching the options, the Board of Directors voted to discontinue operations of the Association and disperse existing funds to various 501 (c) (3) charitable organizations.

Two main ingredients are required to put on successful shows - people and money.  While it was the hope of the Association to help promote the horse industry in Hopkins County and surrounding areas, it is a task which requires help from those it serves.  Along with the lack of interest from the community and individual members, the Board’s decision was based on lack of appropriate funds needed to put on and operate shows, downturn in the economy, low show participation numbers, and the AQHA rule change regarding Introductory Show points.  This rule change will significantly lower the number of show participants in our shows.

We sincerely appreciate the people and businesses that sponsored the Association through the years and we thank those who participated in our shows.

Mission Statement....

Northeast Texas Horsemen’s Association is a group of horse owners, breeders and trainers that recognized the need for an organization capable of bringing together the talents, interests and facilities available in the Northeast Texas area for the benefit of all horse enthusiasts. We are an organization open to all breeds and disciplines and are committed to promoting all types of equine events in an affordable, family friendly atmosphere. The diversity of our membership includes the single horse owner to the full time professionals with World Champion titles.

Our objectives are to combine talents, interests, experience, and knowledge of the equine professionals, show facilities, and individual horse owners in this area of Northeast Texas to envision and develop the pre eminent equine market.

We propose to facilitate an economic plan that benefits both the local population and surrounding areas in developing this marquis market.

Northeast Texas Horsemen’s Association will host competitive events and develop a wide and diverse membership. We strive to communicate and coordinate with other groups within the Texas and surrounding states to promote horses and horse related functions, as well as to affiliate the Northeast Texas Horsemen’s Association with related organizations.

Promotion of the equine industry is of vital importance to our local and state economies, and the Northeast Texas Horsemen’s Association’s objective is to educate and involve supporters in this matter.
